Chia Benefits for Your Skin from the Inside Out

Chia Benefits for Your Skin from the Inside Out

Chia Benefits

Once upon a time, the ancient Aztecs and Mayans ate chia seeds. It was said they ate this stellar superfood before going off to battle for the incredible energy boost it gave them. Today, we eat chia seeds because we know how good they are for us. And while adding them to your diet does wonders, adding them to your skincare routine will truly bring about beautiful results.

Chia benefits you from the inside by helping you lose weight. They’re filled with fiber and hence, keep you fuller for longer. One amazing way to take advantage of chia benefits is to add them to your smoothies for chia smoothies. You can even make a chia seed pudding!

If you’ve been stressed, chia seeds are wonderful to add into your daily diet. They contain plenty of magnesium which helps keep your stress hormone, cortisol, in check. Most of us are magnesium deficient too. If you get frequent headaches or often feel fatigued, chia seeds can help with that.

More Omega-3 Fatty Acids than Salmon

Because chia seeds contain omega-3 fatty acids, even more than a serving of salmon, eating them helps your hair, skin and nails glow from inside out. They can boost circulation which helps with your skin from the inside. They also contain more antioxidants than blueberries, which help keep free radicals from destroying your skin. And on the outside, you can also use chia seeds for your skin to look more naturally radiant than ever!

If you have organic chia seeds at home, you can use them to make an exfoliating mask that will leave your skin looking incredible. Chia seeds can soothe inflammation as well as calm acne. It protects your skin from bacteria too, making it a great skincare ingredient.

A simple mask can be made by using 2 tablespoons of organic chia seeds, ½ a cup or organic coconut oil, and a few drops fresh lemon juice. Simply combine these 3 ingredients in a bowl and then apply it to your face. Let it sit for about 10 minutes. The chia seeds will feel gel-like in consistency. Then, massage your face in circular motions using a warm washcloth. Rinse off and pat dry when you’re finished and enjoy the results!

Of course, you don’t have to do it yourself if you don’t want to. Smoothie Beauty’s Earth mask has chia seeds and other amazing natural ingredients – Greek yogurt, blueberry, cold-pressed tigernut oil, and rosemary – that work together to give you smoother, more youthful and glowing skin.

In celebration of Earth Day, we have partnered with OneTreePlanted and we plant one tree for each Earth Face Mask sold. Earth Face Mask is featured in this month's monthly box.
